Truce is the twelfth song and last vocal the standard version of the album Vessel. It was recorded in Los Angeles and is produced past Greg Wells. It is different well-nigh other songs past the band and whilst the sombre tone of the lyrics is a common theme, the slice is ballad similar heavily featuring piano and few other instruments. Unlike most songs on the anthology, Truce did not feature on the cocky published Regional at All-time.

Post-obit the release of Vessel, Spotify shared an exclusive commentary by Tyler Joseph for each runway on the standard edition.
This song, Truce, is kinda diving into my more mellow side of song writing, which I really have experience—you know, I've been in the mellow side of song writing for a long fourth dimension and I really enjoy it, it's but never felt like there was a place for it on this album other than towards the stop of the CD, it kind of shows my maturity as a songwriter, you know, when yous have as many options as you desire, you lot know, when I sit downwardly at the keyboard, I have any option—I can make the song practise this, I can turn it into this, and a lot of times i of the beginning things that yous learn as a songwriter and as a developer is patience; beingness able to just punch things back and don't throw besides many things into the pot. Obviously, yous could expect at the anthology and be similar "yeah yous didn't do a good job of that," you know, I'm sorry but the song Truce is cool 'cause it's simply me and the piano. I think when I was talking to my producer almost what we wanted the piano to sound like, he put it best, he said; "You know, I desire the piano to sound kind of afar, like information technology's behind several layer of curtains or something," and then we kind of got a sound that [is] kinda a trivial but eerie and not too in your face, just to kinda give the vocals that—the room to really say what it is that they're trying to say. And Truce is one of those songs that I just wanted to tell people; "hang in at that place, you know, there's someone out there who does know what you lot're going through." I know that there's a lot of bands that say they want to utilise music to help people and I know a lot of that might be full of crap. Merely if someone is encouraged, at all, by the music that I write, then my whole life volition be justified, and then I mean I would exist crazy not to try. So this song is chosen Truce and it closes out the album accordingly I retrieve.
